“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr once said. This year at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, this quote was posted.
This celebration started 25 years ago. Each year this celebration has a theme. This year the theme was Mentoring the Dream: Leading with Light and Love. All of this year’s speeches focused on how to be an example to continuing the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As with previous years, the winning speeches of the competition that were sent to schools in the north county were read to the auditorium and live on stream. This year the keynote speaker was Kimberly Norwood, a law professor from Washington University.
Not only was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. a great orator, but he was also led by example and with light and love. Will you help continue his dream by leading by example and leading with light and love?
