Professor Emily Lasek took on the challenge of following Marie McCool in the David Underwood Memorial Lecture on Aug. 18  

Her speech title: “Choose Your Own Adventure” 

Professor Emily Lasek is a Professor of Psychology at STLCC-FV. Her speech started with how she received the news from the previous year’s recipient then took you on her journey from childhood to where she ended up today.  Her speech title was inspired by a book series she read. 

As with all recipients of the Underwood award, the speaker included an item for the audience to take home. This year Emily Lasek had a bar of homemade, unscented goat milk soap to take home. Last year, Marie McCool sent home a towel for everyone. Coincidence or planned?
